Employee Engagement
Employee engagement is the connection and commitment an employee has with your organisation and its goals.
Highly engaged employees bring their best selves to work and do their best work when they get there. High engagement flows through into a team’s performance and into the performance of a business.
High employee engagement = High business performance.
High employee engagement = high business performance. It’s hard to imagine a successful business without a winning team making it happen.
Your people are your competitive advantage and keeping them engaged makes the most of that opportunity!
Our engagement surveys are based on our "Ten Space" engagement score, which is a simple average of all scores received. And / or net promoter scores (NPS) - it’s often used to collect customer feedback and in this instance is used to collect employee feedback (eNPS).
It’s based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 9s and 10s, being "promoters", 7s and 8s being "passives" and 6s and below being "detractors".
Our dashboards show an overall score for the survey, along with the percentage of promoters, passives and detractors.
Yes! We work with you to design a series of questions that will help you to determine a "Ten Space" engagement score, or an eNPS score. By repeating surveys on a regular basis, we can track the change in engagement over time.
We have 4 pillars of engagement. These are designed to ask employees how they feel about key elements of engagement:
- Connection - how informed, heard and bought into the mission and future of the business you are
- Leadership - how confident you feel about your manager and how inspired you are by them
- Fulfilment - how well your job meets your personal and professional needs
- Wellbeing - how safe, secure and supported you feel
Employee engagement is employee happiness AND connection to your business.
If the employee is really happy, but they aren’t channelling that towards your business then it’s unlikely to result in the improved business performance we’re hoping for.
Employees being paid, with free lunches and no work to do, are likely to be super happy! But it’s unlikely to be helping your business to grow!
If you have a good culture, that will lead to employee engagement. A good culture is one of the ingredients that make up high employee engagement.
The TenSpace Platform
Ten Space uses WhatsApp, SMS or email to send surveys to your employees. Using the most accessible and convenient channel for your employees improves their experience when answering engagement survey questions and results in more completed surveys. We know from experience that sending more regular surveys sent directly to the phones of your employees will always provide a more engaging experience.
Yes! Employees can set how they prefer to receive communications from the Ten Space platform. Currently both Whatsapp and SMS are supported.
When we set you up on the platform, we’ll generate a URL link unique to your business. You can then send this link to all employees you’d like to take part and they can register themselves using their name and phone number.
We can do this before a survey, or whilst a survey is taking place.
For large organisations, we’re able to complete this upload on your behalf, if you supply us with the names and phone numbers of employees you’d like to take part.
Yes, we will work with you to change the topics of the question, tone, style of questions etc so that it feels like a survey from your business.
But if this sounds too complicated or time consuming, we also have standard question sets you can choose from!
They’ll register to take part in the survey, via a URL link or a QR code. On the day of the survey going live, they’ll then receive an email, SMS or WhatsApp message on their phone, asking them to take part.
The employees' answers come back to the Ten Space platform in real time. They are anonymised by our platform and presented to you on your dashboard. The real time nature of the data presented allows you to make rapid and actionable decisions as required.
WhatsApp only. When the survey is live, any feedback that an employee has written and sent in as part of the survey will be displayed on your dashboard. Leaders can then write a written response back via the platform and press “send” - it will send the message to the employee. This all happens anonymously.
They’ll be presented on your dashboard. You’ll be able to see results as soon as the team start to complete the survey.
As part of your insights session after your survey, we'll walk through your results, insights and any feedback to ensure you’ve got the most value out of it.
You’ll share the results with your team after each survey, via our reporting tool. We’ve made it easy for you to show your results, add comments and even share any verbatim comments that you’d like to highlight. This happens with a few clicks and you can send the report to your team easily once complete.
We'll also help you with any additional reporting, to ensure you have what you need to take the next steps. You can set a date for future surveys to go out. These can be changed at any time, up until them going out. We’ll help you to do this as part of our managed service.
Our Service
Ten Space provides a fully managed service. Whilst we can fully bespoke your survey and experience, we also have a number of ways we help make it as easy as possible for you!
- Help with communications to the team
- Standard question sets to choose from
- One to one support as your survey is taking place
- Support to get a wrap-up report out to your team as soon as possible after the survey has closed
The discovery session takes place with the leaders that are managing the surveys. It takes place once the contract is signed and before the first survey is sent. By the end of the discovery session, we aim to have booked you a slot for your survey to take place (usually within a week or two of the discovery session).
Before then, we’ll make sure we get to know you, your business and your business goals and how we can help you to achieve them. This helps us to tailor your experience.
They’ll register to take part in the survey, via a URL link. On the day of the survey going live, they’ll then receive a WhatsApp message on their phone, asking them to take part.
An insights session takes place once the feedback period has closed. We’ll discuss your latest results and feedback, look at any trends, offer advice, support and solutions and help you to take any action you need to take. We’ll also look at your next survey with us, to see if we need to evolve the questions, carry out interim surveys, or do any in depth work to gain more feedback if an issue has come to light.
Any leaders you’d like to have access to the platform will be given personal login details by Ten Space.
Our platform has an extensive and highly configurable role-based permissions model which allows us to ensure that the leaders in your business have access to the tools and information they need, whilst protecting the information they should not see.
Your account manager will be able to help you to set up or change any access that your leaders need, including supporting appropriate members of your team to control your leaders' accounts directly should you prefer.
In our experience, the more engaged leaders are across the business, the more action that can be taken in response to feedback. Our platform makes it easy to assign tasks to individual leaders ensuring a more joined up and consistent approach.

We’ve made it easy for you to show your results, add comments and even share any verbatim comments that you’d like to highlight. The monthly charge gives you ongoing access to the platform and all your feedback. It also gives you ongoing access to support from us. It enables you to carry out as many surveys as you’d like and use the tool freely. It means you benefit from all updates and enhancements we make to the platform, as they happen. You can also use the registration link as part of your new-starter process to get new employees signed up ASAP.

Our pricing is based on number of employees. To support your growth plans we have a structured pricing matrix so that we can scale our solution accordingly.
Data Security
When your employees enroll on our platform, the only data we associate with their name is their phone number. We do this so that if they leave the business or require their data for GDPR reasons we can obtain it. All answers submitted to their questions are completely anonymous so that we cannot associate any answers to an employee's name or telephone number.

The Ten Space platform is hosted securely within the UK. We use Amazon Web Services London data centres for all hosting.
Yes, all raw engagement data can be exported for further processing using whichever tools you prefer. Exported data is anonymous to prevent any feedback being inadvertently linked to an employee during processing.
We store data inline with the company’s data retention policy. For short-lived data (such as records of interactions with the system), this is typically no more than 30 days and for longer-lived data such as responses to surveys we retain this indefinitely. Under certain circumstances we have to vary this to ensure our compliance with legal requirements, such as honouring right to be forgotten requests, or to prevent fraud.
Although we don’t provide a specific SLA, our platform is built with reliability in mind. Our dedicated technical team uses best-in-class monitoring systems, auto-scaling and self-healing technology to minimise any issues if they occur.
To help maximise our platform uptime, our engineering team has ensured that there are no single-point failures within the architecture and that all components are spread over at least two availability zones each with separate, redundant network and power connections.
Whilst our aim is to maintain 100% uptime, issues occasionally arise that are outside our control which prevent this. During the last year, our platform availability was more than 99.99%.
